Vigilance called for after incident in Salisbury

Wiltshire Police are urging residents in Salisbury to be vigilant following an incident in Downsway Road.

An elderly resident received a phone call last week from a woman stating that he would be visited by a roofer on Sunday, February 18th, who would look at improvements he would need to be carried out to his roof.

A man arrived at the property on Sunday morning at approximately 11 am and, having looked around the man’s loft, quoted him £8,000.

Fortunately, no money was handed over.

After he left, the homeowner noticed that several items, including post, were missing from his home.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said, "We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area but would like to take this opportunity to urge residents to be mindful of rogue traders – if you have concerns, please call 101 or if a crime is in progress, call 999.

"Anyone with information in relation to this incident should call 101 and quote 54240019288."
