Ray Mac Final gives Salisbury one last chance at silverware this season

The final game of the season has arrived, and it gives Brian Dutton and his side the chance to end the first season in the Vanarama National League South with some silverware.

Swindon Supermarine are the visitors to the Ray Mac for the Wiltshire FA Premier Shield Final; It will be a chance for supporters to see this squad together for the final time.

It will also be a chance for the Salisbury players to thank those on the terraces for their support this season, with a lap of thanks planned for after the game.

Salisbury come into the game on the back of a draw that ensured their position in the second tier of non-league football continues after a long, hard season that has seen many twists and turns and some notable highlights.

It’s a season that has seen the team come back at the death against many people’s title favourites, Dorking, with a memorable 3-3 draw away from home. A league double over local rivals Chippenham, including in front of a large away following at their ground in January.

Other moments include taking points off big-spending full-time teams like Eastbourne, Boreham Wood, and champions Truro City.

Tuesday night is the final opportunity for the whole club community to come together and reflect on this season, looking back on it as a success.

Swindon Supermarine have also had a hard season, with defeat at Walton and Hersham seeing them relegated from the Southern League – Premier South on the final day of the season.

Supermarine’s head coach, Stuart Fleetwood, has gone on record saying that the final few months of the season, with only two wins in the last 16 league matches, led to relegation.

Both sides now have the chance to mark the end of the season with silverware.

Swindon Supermarine have overcome Corsham Town, Highworth Town (QF) and Wooton Bassett (SF) to reach the final. Meanwhile, Salisbury have beaten Melksham Town (QF) and Bemerton Heath Harlequins (SF) this season.

If Salisbury were to lift the trophy, it would be the first time for the current iteration of the club. Swindon Supermarine last lifted the trophy in the 2021/22 season.
