Pitton Church of England Primary School has celebrated its 175th Birthday with current and former pupils in attendance.
They were joined by Salisbury MP John Glen and members of St Peter's Church, with whom the school has strong links.
The birthday event was attended by many past pupils (some of whom attended in the 1950s), as well as many generations of families who had Grandparents, Parents, and children who all either currently attend or previously attended Pitton.
Former Teachers, Teaching Assistants and wider members of staff who have worked at Pitton Primary School attended alongside governors and members of St Peter’s Church.
The ‘175’ cake was made by a current member of staff (Lou Safe), tea and coffee were provided by FOPS (Friends of Pitton School), the school's PTA association.
All visitors in attendance, as well as all staff and pupils, received a 175 commemorative mug to take home.
A time capsule was burried, which had a message from each of the classes, a copy of the school's most recent weekly newsletter ‘Pitton News’, a list of staff, a prospectus, popular current toys and copies of articles in the Salisbury Journal about Pitton CE Primary School receiving a ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement, being awarded ECO schools status, being features on ‘The One Show’ and the recent planting of the school orchard.
During the celebration, the school choir sang ‘I’ve got the Power’, two current pupils spoke (William and Noah), as well as the Headteacher, Emma Wilkinson.
There was also a display of the history of Pitton School from 1850 to 2025.
