Tomorrow, 13 May, Mayor Making will take place to handover the Mayoral chain from Cllr Tom Corbin to Cllr Atiqul Hoque, who will become the 762nd The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
A Civic Procession of visiting Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities, local dignitaries and invited guests will leave the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approx. 11.40 am with a fanfare played by the Shrewton Silver Band.
The official Mayor Making Service and Full Council meeting of Salisbury City Council will take place in St Thomas’s Church at 12.00 pm.
During this meeting, there is an official handover of the Mayoral Chain by the outgoing Mayor to the new Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
The Civic Party will then make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall for a private reception.
There will be some road closures in place in the city centre from 10 am to 11.55 am.
