Art in The Square, Salisbury’s monthly outdoor art market, returns to the Market Square on Sunday 1st November, bringing together artists and makers for a day of original art, live music and creativity in the heart of the city.
Organised by Salisbury Arts Scene, Art in The Square takes place on the first Sunday of the month from March to December, giving visitors the opportunity to browse and buy original work directly from local professional artists.
This month, artists and makers will transform the Market Square into their galleries for the day, showcasing acrylic, watercolour, oil, and mixed-media paintings; block printing; photography; spinning; and hand-painted and crafted jewellery.
Sally Edwards, Coordinator of Salisbury Arts Scene, said: “Our November event is the perfect time to start Christmas shopping with something original. And with two new workshops this month to try your hand at, there is plenty of art to inspire and enjoy!”
Visitors inspired by the artwork on display can also get creative at the regular art workshops. Alongside Watercolour workshops led by resident artist Richard Greathead, organisers are offering two new mediums for you to try.
Artist Emily Richards invites you to ‘Have a go at some simple Printmaking and learn the basics of creating prints using a gel plate’.
Spinner Liz Tanner is offering her Little Weaving Workshops and invites you to ‘Free your Mind with a movement of Peaceful Weaving’.
The half-hour sessions run between 10am and 3pm, cost £5 per person, and include the materials you need to take part. There is no need to book, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
Art in The Square will also feature fantastic live music from Tony Rogers on sax from 10am-12pm, folk duo Nobody’s Business from 12-2pm, and guitar duo Guitarras Neuvo from 2-4pm.
Visitors can enjoy refreshments from Konjo Coffee while exploring the artists’ displays, meeting the people behind the work and enjoying the entertainment.
