Gilbert the Dragon vote results revealed

Salisbury City Council have revealed the results of a public vote they ran to decide what to do next about Gilbert the Dragon.

The council asked residents to choose between three options after Gilbert was declared to be 'beyond cost-effective repair' with around £3,000 of work needed to get him back into good order.

The three options presented in a vote on Facebook were:

A. An artificial box sculpture of Gilbert approx. 7ft tall costing £7k

B. A chainsaw sculpture made from Douglas Fir at 5-6ft tall and on a plinth costing £4k

C. We say goodbye to Gilbert and put him in retirement

The public has now had their say, with option C the most popular. Salisbury will say goodbye to Gilbert, and he has been retired.

Many will have enjoyed seeing Gilbert in the Market Place in bloom, looking magnificent and will be sad to see him go.

No numbers were attached with the results, not it's not known how many participated in the poll.
