Wiltshire man to star in campaign on Sky Sports

A man from Ludgershall has been chosen to feature in a national television campaign on Sky Sports.

The campaign, airing from mid-August through September 1, is designed to encourage professionals to bring their expertise into the education sector.

Dean Carpenter, a Construction Skills and Bricklaying teacher at Sparsholt College Group will represent the 'Teach in FE' initiative, sharing his experience of transitioning from the industry to teaching.

Co-produced with Sky Media, the campaign creatively uses the Premier League’s Transfer Window as a metaphor for skills transfer and is presented in the signature 'breaking news' style of Sky Sports News.

Mr Carpenter will appear alongside Sky Sports presenter Mike Wedderburn and hopes his involvement will inspire others to consider part-time teaching in Further Education (FE). This opportunity allows industry professionals to make a significant impact on students' lives without completely changing careers.

FE teachers play a crucial role in developing the talent needed across various sectors. Sparsholt College Group, like many other local FE providers, leverages the expertise of former industry professionals to offer instruction in diverse subjects, including Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Motor Vehicle.

Mr. Carpenter shared, "I became a further education teacher because I wanted to transfer—if you'll excuse the football pun—my skills to the next generation. This is my way of giving back to a sector I’ve enjoyed working in for 32 years. Teaching in FE has been incredibly rewarding, as I get to help shape the next generation of talent entering the industry. I now have the privilege of impacting at least 50 students every year.
