Wessex Country Fair expected to raise a huge sum for Salisbury Hospice Charity

The Wessex Country Fair, organised by Salisbury Hospice Charity, welcomed around 4,000 people to the Wilton House Estate on Saturday.

With money still coming in, the event is expected to raise £60,000 for Salisbury Hospice.

The fair was back bigger and better than ever following a two-year break caused by the pandemic, with new evening entertainment from some fantastic local performers and a headline performance from West Country Legends, The Wurzels!

There was something for everyone at this year’s event including; live music, arena acts, dog show, a wide range of trading stalls, inflatables, agricultural displays, as well as displays of vintage cars and steam vehicles.

The Hospice Village, run by the hospice’s very own staff and volunteers was a great success, giving people the opportunity to learn more about the vital, end-of-life services the hospice provides to the community.

The hospice annually supports around 1000 people through physical, spiritual, emotional and social care. The care is provided both in people's own homes at through inpatient and non-residential services at Salisbury Hospice.

Attendees participated in some of the therapies our patients experience, such as pebble painting, horticultural therapy and craft activities, some even had a massage from one of Salisbury Hospice’s experienced complementary therapists.

Events Fundraiser Abi Blake said: ‘We are so grateful that so many of the local community turned out to support the event, which has raised a great amount for Salisbury Hospice. The event has also helped us build more awareness of the hospice locally. We would like to thank everyone who helped make the day such a success, especially our tremendous volunteers. This event would not be possible without the incredible support of the team at Wilton House Estate and the kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke. "
