Teams from Salisbury and Bournemouth Fire Station could be seen training at Salisbury Cathedral yesterday (9th June 2022), practising a casualty rescue from the spire and roof space.
The exercise was run by Dave O'Bryan, the Watch Manager Poole Fire Station and Rob Douglas, Cathedral Floor Manager, who oversees Health and Safety at the Cathedral.
The exercise involved removing a casualty from the roof space via a window 28m up on the West Front. This required some rope access training which allowed the firefighters to get into tricky spaces on the roof.
