Trethowans, a law firm based in Salisbury, has raised nearly £2,000 for Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal through the ‘Walk for Wards Wherever You Are’ initiative, which challenges people to walk 3km, 5km or 10km.
On Friday 30th July, Steph Hartley, her daughter Ella, and members of Trethowans’ family team walked 10km from Pitton village to Salisbury Market Square to raise sponsorship money for the Stars Appeal.
The Stars Appeal supports hundreds of patients at Salisbury District Hospital across all wards and departments, as well as the NHS staff who care for them. It provides new equipment and facilities, offers specialist training for staff and organises social events for patients.
The charity is close to Trethowans’ heart because it helped Scarlet, the baby niece of one of the firm’s team members, Steph Hartley. Scarlet tragically passed away after a tough battle with cancer.
Steph said: “During the last five weeks of Scarlet’s life she was cared for by the amazing staff on The Sarum Ward at Salisbury District Hospital. The Stars Appeal helps fund many of its resources, which were beneficial to Scarlet’s end of life care.
“Scarlet’s parents were able to stay with her and make precious memories with her. Without donations to the Stars Appeal, they simply would not have been able to do this. So, we wanted to raise money for the charity.”
The money will be donated specifically to The Sarum Ward. If you wish to donate, it is not too late. Click here.
