Dick Whittington Goes Trekking, a charity pantomime written, performed and produced by people who met through Stars Appeal fundraising treks, has raised more than £4,000 for Salisbury Hospital’s charity.
The cast and crew included an eye consultant, financial advisor, IT director, bookseller, dance teacher and two podiatrists! The group had never put on a pantomime before, so were hugely grateful for the expert help of Winterslow Drama Group, who are based in Winterslow Village Hall, the venue for the show.
Local businesses, including Northwood, MJ Abbott, Horizon Energy Infrastructure, Parker Bullen, Alfa Display & Design, BP Rolls Group, MKF Scaffolding and GivingPrint, also supported the show with donations.
But it was the audience, almost 200 friends, family, colleagues and Winterslow locals, who made the shows a success. They bought refreshments and raffle tickets, and most importantly, they clapped, sang, laughed and joined in from the moment the cast stepped on stage.
As one happy audience member said, “Absolutely BRILLIANT! BRAVO, all of you. Laughed and laughed. Such hard work and you’ve absolutely smashed it!”
The Panto team say they are taking a rest after their exertions. And the £4,000 raised has already been given to the Stars Appeal, to fund ongoing projects such as free 24/7 Wi-Fi, tea trollies and patient care packs, all of which have directly helped members of the team.
