Salisbury force a replay on Tuesday night with draw against Dorking

Salisbury fought back after trailing early in the game against Dorking Wanderers to draw 1-1 and force a Tuesday night replay.

The visitors took the lead early in the game through Storey, but Brian Dutton's side fought their way back into the game and levelled early in the second half through Briggs.

Salisbury fell behind in the third minute, though there were strong suspicions of offside when Louis Storey tucked home as the ball was put across the danger area by Jimmy Muitt.

Alfie Rutherford had a guilt-edged chance to double Dorkings' lead in the 16th minute, but his shot ended up being tame, and Will Buse was able to save with his feet and then gather.

Tommy Lee Higgs forced the first save of the half from Noah Phillips when he shot on the stretch from the edge of the area, which was saved fairly comfortably by the Dorking keeper.

Just a couple of minutes later, James McShane rifled one over Buse's bar from 25 yards, as the Dorking skipper couldn't keep his effort down.

There were penalty shouts in the 42nd minute from the Whites supporters behind the goal, when Josh Hedges chased a ball into the box, but the Dorking defender just got a toe on the ball to put it behind for a corner.

Salisbury then came very close to equalising from the corner when the ball was cleared to the edge of the area. Harry Tustin took a touch, and then his low shot was very well saved by Phillips to deny the Salisbury midfielder.

That was the last chance of the half, and the visitors led by a single early goal at halftime.

It didn't take long in the second half for the Whites to level, former Dorking wideman, Matty Briggs, finishing really well after latching on to a lofted ball into the box by Noah Coppin. Briggs chested down well and slid it past Phillips in the 49th minute.

The next good chance for either side came in the 80th minute, when Dan Gallagher fired over after a corner dropped in the middle of the box after being headed back in to the middle of the box by Prior.

Dorking then hit the upright direct from a corner from the right-hand side in the 85th minute as Dennon Lewis swung the ball into the danger area.

Just before the fourth official showed the board indicating an additional seven minutes. Hayden Muller burst into the Dorking box, but a good challenge prevented the defender from getting his shot away as he bore down on goal.

Dorking then went down the other end just a couple of minutes later, a rasping drive from Frank Vincent was well turned over the bar by Buse.

Matt Taylor had a chance with the last kick of the game, but his shot was comfortable for Phillips to gather.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock, and the replay will be played on Tuesday evening at Dorking's Meadowbank ground.
