Salisbury turns out in large numbers to remember our fallen

Large numbers gathered around Salisbury's Guildhall Square to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Military units and cadets marched to the Guildhall square from Avon Approach before forming up around the war memorial in front of the Guildhall.

The ceremony, opened by Salisbury's Mayor, Cllr Sven Hocking, saw local dignitaries and representatives of military organisations and groups lay wreaths at the War Memorial. These included Lord Lieutenant Sarah Troughton and Salisbury's MP, John Glen.

After an immaculately observed period of silence, the parade then made its way out of the square, along Queen Street and then down the new canal where Cllr Hocking and Ms Troughton took the salute and members of the public lined the road, applauding the parade as it passed.

Today, Monday 11 November 2024, there will be a small ceremony in the Guildhall Square at 11.00 am to mark Armistice Day, which all are welcome to attend.
