Next Saturday’s Mayor Making procession will feature Christopher III, the current Salisbury Giant, his little friend Hobnob, and Sarum Morris.
They will be accompanied by the City’s Whifflers, who will attend to the Giant with his Staff of Office, Sword and ceremonial Mace.
What is happening, and when?
Salisbury's Mayor Making takes place on Saturday 11th May.
There will be a procession to St Thomas’s Church at 12:00 to take the Civic Party to their Mayor-making meeting.
After the ceremony, they will parade back to The Guildhall.
Sarum Morris is hosting its “Day of Dance” event in Salisbury this year to coincide with the Mayor's Making Ceremony.
Half a dozen Morris “Sides” have been invited to attend.
Chief Whiffler Paul Sample said, "Dancing will take place at several sites around the city, and we hope to take the Giant to some of them. Frivolities will continue until mid-afternoon in the City’s streets."
