Salisbury drug driver, 30, given driving ban

A Salisbury man has been given a driving disqualification after he was caught under the influence of drugs.

Dylan Lucas-Symes, 30, of Lambert Drive, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to drug driving at the first hearing on November 28th at Salisbury Magistrates Court and was given a 21-month driving disqualification.

He must also carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £170 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £114 surcharge.

On April 13th this year, officers stopped Lucas-Symes as he was driving in Wilton Road and he showed signs of being under the influence of drugs. A roadside drug test came back positive.

PC Mat Jacob from the Response Team in Salisbury said: “Drink or drug driving puts not only the driver, but everyone on the road, at serious risk of injury, or death. It’s one of the Fatal 5 offences we focus on — the main causes of serious and fatal collisions on our roads.

“We urge anyone affected by drug use to seek support and treatment. Driving while under the influence is extremely dangerous and illegal — one decision can change multiple lives forever. If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please call 999 if they are behind the wheel, or 101 with information.”
