A man who robbed a vulnerable man in Salisbury city centre has been jailed.
Aaron Martin, 38, of no fixed address, Salisbury, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court on April 9th and was jailed for 33 months after pleading guilty to robbery.
He was also given a six-year rehabilitation order.
At about 7 pm on August 12th, 2025, the victim was in Salisbury city centre visiting a food bank when Martin punched him multiple times and stole his personal belongings, including his mobile phone, leaving him unable to call for help, before humiliating him further by taking his trousers off.
The victim, who is vulnerable due to limited physical mobility, sustained facial injuries in the attack.
In an impact statement supplied to the court, the victim said: “The attack has left me very fearful and full of anxiety. Every time I go out, I fear that I will be assaulted again. I feel in a permanent state of anxiety where I fear what might happen.”
Local Crime Investigator Beverley Sargent said: “Martin was aware of the vulnerabilities of his victim yet continued with his attack, leaving him injured and unable to call 999 for help.
"In his impact statement, the victim described how the incident has left him fearful of going out and about because of Martin’s actions. This is unacceptable. I hope this custodial sentence given to Martin enables his victim to feel some form of closure.”
