RNLI Fundraising Events in Salisbury Continue

Following a busy spring and summer of events, our local fundraising branch of the RNLI are involved with two forthcoming events to raise money.

On Saturday, 18th October, the Salisbury and Wilton Fundraising branch of the RNLI is joining the RNLI Lifeboat Saturday national street collection.

Following the loss of 27 lifeboatmen off the Northwest coast of England while attempting to rescue the crew of the barque Mexico, the first ever recorded charity street collection was organised to raise money to improve lifeboat design. This took place in Manchester in October 1891, and the RNLI has decided to make this an annual event.

Local fundraisers will be collecting in the Market Square, Old George Mall and other locations around the city centre.

Stormy Stan, the RNLI mascot, is sure to put in an appearance!

They will also have their RNLI shop in the Market Square, where you can buy Christmas cards, calendars and other items.

On Monday, 27th October, the branch is holding its very first Charity Bridge Afternoon at the Reading Room in Stratford-sub-Castle. Singles, doubles and fours are all welcome. Tickets should be bought in advance, and the entry price of £15 will include a full afternoon tea.
