Pressure on Dutton Builds as Salisbury's Winless Start Continues with Loss

Salisbury's winless start to the season continued on Saturday with a home defeat to Tonbridge Angels.

Brian Dutton's side have now gone eight games at the start of the season without a win, sit second bottom of the table, and a growing noise of dissatisfaction amongst the Ray Mac faithful.

Ben Unwin had given the visitors a lead at half-time, before Brody Peart and Bunmi Babajide added to that lead, before a late consolation from the spot from Noah Coppin.

During the game, there were chants from the home supporters of "getting sacked in the morning" directed at Brian Dutton, with Salisbury gaining four points from their opening eight fixtures and only Eastbourne Borough in a worse position.

The game started at a slow pace, with only half-chances being created before Bobby Unwin headed home in the 16th minute, to give the visitors the lead.

Salisbury saw plenty of the ball, but again were unable to get a goal and trailed at halftime.

Again at the start of the second half, Salisbury were seeing plenty of the ball without hurting Tonbridge, and again it was the visitors with the cutting edge.

Brody Peart scored the pick of the game's goals on 73 minutes with a stunner to double the visitors' lead as he curled beyond Will Buse from 30 yards.

The visitors' 3rd was a well-worked goal after some persistent forward play. The ball was swept in from the right before Bunmi Babajide smashed it into the roof of the net.

Salisbury eventually scored, with Noah Coppin slotting home from the spot after a soft penalty was awarded for a foul on Josh Keeya.

The Whites huffed and puffed but were unable to gain anything further from the game in the 12 minutes of added time.

Salisbury have a break from the league now and will meet Laverstock and Ford in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round at the Ray Mac on Saturday (13th September) with kick off at 3pm.
