People in the Park postponed following death of the Queen

The organisers of Salisbury's eco event, People in the Park, say they have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the event following the death of the Queen.

People in the Park was set to return to Queen Elizabeth Gardens on Saturday 17th September to bring the conversation of a more ethical and sustainable Salisbury to the forefront.

In a statement, the organisers said, "We believe that Queen Elizabeth Gardens and its neighbours should be able to grieve in peace during the national mourning period. For those who were planning on coming to the event, we encourage you to spend the time with people you love, doing the things you love, together.

"We want to extend our sincere apologies to everyone who has put in a huge amount of time and effort into preparing for this amazing event! We were so excited to welcome you all to the park next weekend… we will be in touch with stall holders, speakers and performers over the next few days with more details and our new date in May 2022."

Building on the resounding success of last year, the organisers, Salisbury Transition City, had planned for a more ambitious and larger-scale event for this year. The programme was set to include over 40 organisations presenting, showing and demonstrating their services and community activities.

In light of current circumstances, the event has been postponed to May 2023 out of respect for the mourning period of Her Majesty The Queen.
