Open mic night returns to Brown Street

After the success of the first event, open mic night returns to Brown Street tomorrow (2nd September) for musicians, comedians and poets to take to the stage.

Entry is free and anyone can show up on the night to perform.

Organiser, Thom Belk said, “I’m absolutely delighted with how Thursday nights have started at Brown Street. I’ve been lucky enough to welcome a wide and eclectic number of acts to the stage so far.

“Open Mic is a great opportunity for new artists to get noticed but also for long-standing performers to test-drive ideas or jam with other performers.

“Echoes first graced an open mic night of mine two years ago, as a two-piece. Now they are enjoying a big breakthrough moment on the scene".

Set to take to the stage tomorrow is Paul Furtado, who regularly enjoys playing open mic nights with his band 'Somehow I'm Home'.

Speaking to Love Salisbury Paul said, “I’ve been playing at open mics for quite a while now. I’ve met so many amazingly talented musicians that live in and around Salisbury. In fact, both of my current bands were through open mic nights! There is a vibrant community of musicians and the best thing about it is the welcoming atmosphere for musicians of all abilities.

“Having another stage at Brown Street is a great opportunity for musicians to practice their stage skills, demo new tunes, and meet other musicians. More opportunities for up and coming bands and artists is what the city needs. There’s nothing like live music.”

Somehow I'm Home

All performers are welcome, with people taking to the stage from 7.30pm onwards.

For those wishing to attend to enjoy the performances, there will be a bar and food vendors available.
