On Saturday night, 31st July 2021, a local coffee shop’s vehicle was vandalised at Churchill Gardens, Salisbury.
All four tyres were slashed and the vandals damaged the wing mirror and bodywork of The Wood Bar's truck.
Speaking to Love Salisbury, one of the owners, Tom Britten said: “Without the truck, we have no way to tow the caravan which means we can not trade.
“It’s incredibly sad and means we cannot pay our staff’s wages, or provide coffee to our loyal customers.
“We didn’t think leaving the truck for a couple of hours under a CCTV camera would be a problem, but obviously it was.”
Until they can reopen, The Wood Bar team are asking customers to support them at their other locations across the city.
“On the positive side, we have two other locations at Victoria Park and our latest Wood Bar at Parkwood Gym. People have been so supportive sending us lovely messages and we would love customers to come and support us at our other locations.”
While doing some community outreach work at the junior parkrun on Sunday 1st August, the Mayor came to show her support for The Wood Bar.
“A friend helped us get the caravan to the junior parkrun on Sunday so we could trade. The Mayor came to show her support and they had a photo with the caravan and a coffee,” added Tom.
“This is sad news for a new business which has only started in lockdown. I know many parents enjoy a coffee there while the kids play and I can assure you the coffee is good,” said Mayor Caroline Corbin.
The Wood Bar team hope to have the truck fixed and be trading at Churchill Gardens again by the weekend.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Wiltshire Police on 101 or contact The Wood Bar directly.
