A man from Ludgershall has been fined more than £1,300 for assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing officers from carrying out their duty.
Thomas Cuss, 41, of Short Street, was sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Thursday (13th June).
It follows an incident on May 10th where officers attended Short Street after receiving reports of a disorder and assault.
Cuss tried to prevent officers from entering his property and punched one of the attending officers in the face, causing a black eye and a cut near the officer’s eye.
He was fined £750, ordered to pay £300 Victim Surcharge, £85 in costs and £200 compensation.
PC Will Hammond said: "We will not tolerate assaults upon our officers and staff or other emergency services workers and will, with the support of the courts, robustly bring to justice those who assault the protectors of our communities.
"It is never acceptable for officers, staff, or volunteers to be assaulted as they undertake their duties to protect us all from harm."
