Local security company sponsors new Salisbury Street Pastor

A local security company has sponsored a new Salisbury Street Pastor - donating enough money to provide their training and uniform.

Enigma Security, who work in a variety of Salisbury venues, often those part of the night time economy, donated £300 to the local volunteer group.

Tony Weatherington, from Enigma Security, handed the cheque to Brain Percey (Head of Salisbury Street Pastors) at the recent ‘Make our City Safer’ event held at the Guildhall.

Salisbury Street Pastors (SSP) are a group of volunteers who work on the streets of Salisbury to support the nighttime economy at weekends. The group's mission is to “care, listen and help" those who need it.

For the Street Pastors, this could be anything from providing a shoulder to cry on, helping someone who is unwell, providing flip-flops for those with uncomfortable shoes or just talking to anyone who would like a chat.

The group work closely with City Watch (CCTV) and the door staff of late-night venues and with the use of the radio network system, they can be called upon to check up on people if needed.

Speaking to Love Salisbury about the Street Pastors, Tony said, “Over the years we have noticed the way they go above and beyond in their often thankless task of helping others in need.

“During a recent conversation with Brian, we were discussing the cost of their kit and training and how they rely on donations to fund this. We at Enigma security decided to donate £300 to them.

"Brian later thanked us and said they have used the money to fund a new trainee and that the donation will pay for his training and uniform."
