With temperatures climbing across the region and an Amber heat health alert in place until Monday, 23rd June, Alabaré is asking the local community to spare a thought for our homeless.
Hot weather can be just as dangerous as cold for people without proper shelter. Tents, cars, sheds, and barns offer little protection, and finding shade, water, or a safe place to cool down can be incredibly tough.
Please lend your support to anyone who might be struggling. If you see someone who looks unwell, don’t assume they’re just sleeping or under the influence.
Take a moment to check in and see if they need immediate help. A simple act of kindness could make all the difference.
Alabaré services offering extra help
In Wiltshire, Alabaré provide water, sunscreen, and showers to rough sleepers visiting our Somewhere Safe to Go service at Alabaré Place in Salisbury.

Naomi Webb, Head of Service for Homelessness at Alabaré, said, “There’s a real need for the community to look out for each other in the hot weather, and it’s no different for those who are homeless.
“A kind word to make sure someone’s OK, or even handing over a bottle of water, could make all the difference to someone who’s already vulnerable.
“Just small actions could save a life during the heatwave.”
