Four much-loved Salisbury Hospice nurses are preparing to swap their uniforms for jumpsuits as they take on a daring skydive to raise vital funds for the Salisbury Hospice Charity.
On Sunday, 14th September, Matron Emma Evans, alongside nurses Lisa-Marie Morphett, Jodie Oldrid, and Kristina Earle, will leap from 10,000 feet at GoSkydive, Old Sarum.
The event, themed around bravery and courage, aims to highlight the incredible spirit shown by patients and families cared for by the hospice every day.
For Lisa-Marie Morphett, the challenge is both personal and professional. “This is a huge challenge for me personally, and I wanted to give something back to the incredible work our hospice does.
"We rely on the support of our wonderful community to keep our work going, whether financially or through volunteering, and no one will ever know when they might need that support themselves. My patients come with a huge amount of fighting spirit and resilience, and they leave me in awe every day. I’m doing this for every one of them.”
Jodie Oldrid echoed the sentiment, emphasising the courage she witnesses every day. “As a nurse working in the hospice, I see firsthand the incredible difference we make in the lives of patients and their families during the most challenging moments. The care we provide goes beyond medical support; it’s about dignity, comfort and compassion at the end of life.
"Jumping out of a plane might seem extreme, but it’s nothing compared to the courage our patients show each and every day. I’m doing this in their honour and to ensure everyone who needs it can receive the personalised care we provide, free of charge and full of heart.”
Salisbury Hospice Charity is also inviting members of the public to take part in the Skydive for a Nurse fundraiser and jump alongside their incredible nurses, who are swapping care for courage.
Every jump helps raise vital funds to ensure the hospice can continue providing outstanding end-of-life care across Salisbury and the surrounding community.
