Five men sentenced for night poaching in Cholderton area

Five people have been sentenced in connection with an investigation into night poaching near Amesbury.

On January 19th this year, officers were called to a report of poaching in the Cholderton area. Officers from the Rural Crime Team, with the assistance of a firearms unit flying a drone, located a group of men with dogs hiding in a hedge.

Five men were arrested and charged with night poaching, to which they pleaded guilty.

On August 8th at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, they were sentenced as follows:

• Sean McWhinnie, 44, of Lizard Close, Southampton – fined £200, to pay a surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85
• William Goddard, 41, of Norbury Gardens, Hamble-Le-Rice, Hampshire – fined £200, to pay a surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85
• Billy Goddard, 21, of Norbury Gardens, Hamble-Le-Rice, Hampshire – fined £333, to pay a surcharge of £133 and court costs of £85
• Jesse Dennard, 26, of Darenth Wood Road, Darenth, Kent – fined £200, to pay a surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85
• Riley Dennard, 18, of Billet Hill, Ash, Kent – fined £200, to pay a surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85.
