Salisbury welcome Bath City to the Ray Mac this weekend for the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round match.
The match will be the first competitive meeting between the current club and Bath City; however, the old club most recently met the Romans in 2013.
That Fourth Qualifying round match in 2013 saw current Bath City player Elliott Frear assist Theo Lewis in scoring the only goal of the game. Theo isn’t the only member of that team still involved with the club; Brian Dutton also played on that day.
Frear isn’t the only player likely to feature this weekend against his former side. Former Salisbury loanee Kieran Parselle is in the Bath squad, while Salisbury’s captain, Sido Jombati, played 82 times for Bath between 2009 and 2011.
To reach this stage, Bath City beat Merthyr Town 2-1 at Twerton Park in the last round. Sol Wanjau-Smith and Elliott Frear were on the score sheet as they knocked out the Southern League Premier South Side.
Salisbury scored seven as they progressed in the last round, beating Wessex Premier League side AFC Stoneham 7-1 away with goals from Jordan Ragguette, Josh Sommerton, Tom Leggett, and four from Ronan Silva.
Reaching the Third Qualifying Round matches Salisbury FC’s best-ever run in the Emirates FA Cup, with Brian Dutton’s side looking to break that record and play in the Fourth Qualifying Round for the first time.
