Extra patrols in Amesbury wooded area after anti-social behaviour

Wiltshire Police have been carrying out extra patrols in Fosters Bushes, Amesbury, following reports of anti-social behaviour.

Fosters Bushes are a wooded and green area at the heart of the Butterfield Down estate, to the east of the town centre.

This has included a 'Priority Patrol' for Neighbourhood and Response officers, with several individuals located, identified and directed away from the area.

In addition, a recently constructed shelter being utilised for drug taking and other items involved in anti-social behaviour were removed.

Police are working in partnership with Amesbury Town Council. The site will now be litter-picked twice weekly until the end of summer, and the woodland has been extensively trimmed back.

The various ingress and egress points have been opened up to allow more light, and the area has been thinned to allow a greater line of sight throughout.

In addition, several streetlights obscured by overgrown vegetation have been cleared so that they are now illuminating the area to its full potential.
