A pub has been named Cider Pub of the Year for the fourth year running.
The Cuckoo Inn in Hamptworth received the award from the Salisbury and South Wiltshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale after judges recognised the pub’s wide range of real ciders.
The venue offers at least 24 different ciders at any time, with the selection increasing to around 30 during the summer months.
Landlord Nik Amplianitis was presented with the certificate by branch chairman Andrew Hesketh during a visit to the thatched pub, which has operated as a public house for around 150 years.
Andrew Hesketh said the pub has been the area’s leading cider venue since Nik took over in 2022, praising his knowledge and attention to how the drinks are served.
Nik said the team “take cider very, very seriously” and he is always searching for new producers to expand the range available for customers.
Only pubs selling real cider were eligible for the award, defined as cider made from freshly pressed apple juice without concentrated ingredients.
