Church inspector praises 'outstanding' primary school

The New Forest (C of E) Primary School and Nursery at Landford and Nomansland achieved the top grade of ‘Excellent’ after their Statutory Inspection of Church Schools (SIAMS) process in July.

The judgement comes after a lead SIAMS inspector spent one day in the school, where, through a rigorous process, the inspector deemed that the outcome was ‘Excellent’.

The inspector stated, "There is a tangible ethos of love, care, friendship, and kindness floods this school, directly reflecting the vision. All members of the school family feel valued and exceptionally well supported, empowering them to achieve their very best."

The curriculum is "ambitious and tailored around the needs of individuals. Diversity and global issues thread throughout’ and that ‘Staff provide support ‘above and beyond expectations’ confirming the deeply rooted ethos of friendship and acceptance."

The report comments that all children are supported and, in particular, "Pupils with additional needs are well supported, enabling them to make strong progress from their starting points."

The inspector’s concluding words sum up the overriding purpose of The New Forest (C of E) Primary School and Nursery: "Being part of this special school family transforms lives and equips pupils to become the very best version of themselves."

Headteacher Caroline Whittaker is delighted with the outcome of the inspection. “This is a tremendous affirmation of the hard work and fabulous teamwork at The New Forest (C of E) Primary School and Nursery. I am incredibly proud of the pupils, parents and our staff,” said Caroline.

Mrs Whittaker has worked at the school for the last eighteen years and is passionate about achieving the very best for children.

“The report contains helpful advice for us about the further development of our strong vision and values in order for all members of the school to flourish. In particular, we will continue to work with our partner schools, our local churches and Salisbury Diocese to share the excellent practise that happens in our school.” She continued.

In 2020, The New Forest (C of E) Primary School and Nursery became the second primary school to join Magna Learning Partnership, now a Trust of 10 schools in the Salisbury area.

Ian Tucker, CEO, is also celebrating the school’s achievement, “I am thrilled with the outcome of this inspection, but not surprised. Any visitor to this wonderful school is immediately struck by the quality of experience provided for the children here.

"We are delighted to share the excellent work at The New Forest (C of E) Primary and Nursery School with other schools in our Trust and also in the wider Salisbury area."
