A busy 'Carols for Busy People'

On Wednesday, 21st December, St Thomas’s Salisbury was once more packed to capacity for the annual ‘Carols for Busy People’ event.

This lunchtime opportunity to sing favourite carols, interspersed with readings from the Christmas story, had become a regular and popular event with the Salisbury community. Now, for the first time since lockdown is back to its best.

This year proceedings were enlivened when the rector, Kelvin Inglis, used volunteers from those gathered to hold up cards as prompts for audience participation and interaction to a reading of the Christmas Story.

Rachel Fear, Community Fundraiser and Jenna Micaleff from ‘Alzheimer’s Support’ look pleased after receiving their donation.

The event was also an appropriate occasion to present donations from funds raised by the 2022 Christmas Tree Festival.

This year’s nominated charities were ‘Alzheimer’s Support’ and ‘Friends of Salisbury Shopmobility’ which were each presented with cheques for £5,059.45p.

The 2022 Christmas Tree Festival was visited by over 11,740 people and raised over £15,000.

This outstanding result was a heartening reminder that the generous beating heart of Salisbury remains firm despite the difficulties everyone is having to face at the moment.
